Monthly:  Dear listening friend, you’re warmly invited to join us for our monthly prayer gathering at the WLUJ Studio (600 West Mason Street in Springfield), every first Tuesday of the month at 10 a.m.! It’s a special time to come together in the presence of God — lifting up prayer requests from our listening family, covering our community, leaders, the impact of the Gospel across our 21 frequencies, and other needs as the Lord leads. We’d be blessed and grateful to pray with you, encourage one another, and connect in fellowship as we enjoy a light brunch together. Feel welcome to bring your prayer requests — we’d love to spend that time with you!

Monthly:  BusinessMen in Christ (BMIC) gathers on the second Saturday of each month at Pizza Ranch in Springfield for fellowship, meditation on Scripture, and encouragement in the Lord! Anchored in 2 Timothy 1:7—For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind—men come together as brothers in Christ, emboldened by His Spirit, strengthened in their devotion, and united in the pursuit of the Kingdom! Each gathering features a Spirit-led message from a special guest speaker—this month, Mike Smith of Remnant Church in Decatur—and offers a sacred space to grow in faith, sharpen one another in godly living, and honor the Lord with every step of life.

Weekly: Washington Street Mission (408 N. 4th Street, Springfield) invites volunteers to serve breakfast and share the Good News every Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. It’s a meaningful way to shine Jesus’ light by providing meals, fellowship, and hope to those in need. Weekly:  Find hope and healing every Thursday at Celebrate Recovery at Together Church (225 North Grand Ave E, Springfield). This Christ-centered group welcomes anyone facing hurts, habits, or hang-ups! Enjoy a $5 meal at 5:30 p.m. (your first visit is free), followed by music, a message, and newcomer intro. Then join small groups to share or listen, ending with fellowship and treats at Together Time Café. You’re not alone—come be part of a loving and caring community!

Spring Session:  Christianity Explored begins Friday, the 20th of March, at 6:00 pm at All Souls Presbyterian Church (202 W Illinois Street, Urbana) and continues weekly through May 15th! This eight-week journey through the Gospel of Mark offers a welcoming space to ask honest questions and thoughtfully consider the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the hope found in His saving grace. Each evening includes Bible study, practical teaching, open discussion, and dinner in a relaxed setting. It is an ideal opportunity to invite friends, family members, neighbors, or colleagues who are searching for truth and seeking to know Jesus and the life He freely offers! All are welcome. Spring Session:  Trinity Lutheran School in Springfield invites those grieving the loss of a family member or friend to a 13-week GriefShare support and recovery program beginning Tuesday the 31st of March. Each Tuesday from 6:00–8:00 p.m., participants will meet in the Parish Hall (515 S. MacArthur Blvd.), continuing through June 23rd. GriefShare offers a welcoming, faith-filled community where those carrying sorrow can find comfort, encouragement, and hope, grounded in the promises of God! Each week includes video teaching, gentle discussion, and a workbook to help participants navigate grief, reflect on the great peace of God, and draw strength for the journey ahead. Friday, March 13:  West Indiana friends, the Parke Vermillion Community Pregnancy Center invites you to stand in the gap for the voiceless. Join them for the Jonah Fish Fry on the 13th, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Montezuma Community Center (800 North Jackson Street in Montezuma, IN). For just $13 for adults and $7 for children 10 and under, enjoy a meal that supports a ministry providing hope and life-affirming choices to young women in crisis. Every dollar helps empower mothers to choose life and trust in God’s plan. Saturday, March 14:  St. Nicholas Orthodox Church (1807 N. Federal Drive, Urbana) invites you to gather for a Lenten Retreat, an afternoon of prayer, reflection, and sacred music to draw nearer to God. Beginning at 3:00 p.m., Abbess Katherine Weston—author, counselor, composer, and president of the Fellowship of St. Moses the Black—will present New Treasures and Old, highlighting her latest works. At 4:30 p.m., the Illinois Orthodox Choir, directed by Dr. Zhanna Lehmann, will offer a concert of Orthodox hymnography in the Byzantine, American, and Slavic traditions. Sunday, March 15:  Riverton’s Knights of Columbus Marian Hall (335 South 4th Street in Riverton, IL) invites you to a delicious Corned Beef & Cabbage Bash on March 15th from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a hearty, delicious meal of corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes for $15, or hot dogs and chips for $3, along with exciting raffle items! Thursday, March 19:  Join in standing for the sacred gift of every life at the Illinois Pro-Life March! The march for life will be held on the 19th of March, from 1–3 p.m. in the capitol city. This free event is organized by Illinois Right to Life and Illinois Right to Life Action, and honors the God-given value of every individual, created in His image (Genesis 1:27), and stands as a witness to the sanctity of life! Participants will gather at the Lincoln Statue in front of the Illinois Capitol Building (401 South 2nd Street, Springfield). The schedule includes a rally at 1:00 p.m., the march at 2:00 p.m., and lobbying opportunities beginning at 3:00 p.m.!

Thursday, March 19:  Families with children entering Kindergarten through 7th grade are invited to attend White Horse Academy’s Enrollment Open House on the 19th at 6:30 p.m., held at Second Presbyterian Church (404 N. Saturday, March 21:  The Iron Sharpens Iron Men’s Conference will be held from 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. at First UMC (2941 South Koke Mill Road, Springfield). This one-day gathering calls men to stand strong in their faith, be empowered by God’s Spirit, and lead with courage, conviction, and integrity for His glory! Through powerful teaching and workshops, keynote speakers Delano Squires and Bryndan Loritts will challenge men to live boldly as God’s men in their homes, workplaces, and communities. Sunday, March 22:  The 5th Annual Elder’s Tea will honor the esteemed elders of our community—steadfast pillars and beacons of faith and service—while also recognizing the NDOWE Scholarship recipients, who are carrying forward the legacy of learning, leadership, and community impact. This afternoon gathering is devoted to strengthening a thriving community through education, advocacy, and the wisdom of our beloved elders! To be held in the Lincoln Reception Room at the Abraham Lincoln Library (112 North 6th Street, Springfield) at 2 p.m., exquisitely hosted by Clarissa Williams, admired author and community advocate! The event will offer a resplendent tribute to the lifelong contributions of the elders and spotlight scholarships supporting the next generation. Saturday, March 28:  The Spring Fling Event benefiting Jensen Woods Camp (403 East Park Street, Timewell, IL) invites the community to a day of fun and fellowship in celebration of Resurrection Sunday! The event includes an Easter egg hunt for three age groups starting at 10:30 a.m., with registration offering a $20 discount and the chance for $50 scholarships (while funds last). Enjoy a simple lunch for a freewill offering from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., along with crafts, games, and a special visit from the Easter bunny. Saturday, March 28:  Celebrate the joy of the Gospel at Sherman Church of the Nazarene (7085 Village Center Road Apt B, Sherman, IL) with a Spaghetti Dinner and uplifting Gospel Concert! From 4:30–5:45 p.m., enjoy a $7 dinner of spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert, and a drink, with all proceeds blessing local homeless ministries in the Springfield area. Tuesday, April 7:  Big Mo will be live in concert at Grace Southern Baptist Church (302 West Wright Street, Virden) on the 7th of April at 6:30 p.m. A Dove Award nominee with many years of ministry in gospel music, he is known for his strong, expressive voice and songs that encourage and uplift! Saturday, April 18:  F.A.I.T.H. – Fathers Are Important to Their Heirs – invites dads and daughters to the annual Dads & Daughter Dance Dinner at the Senior Service Center (701 West Mason Street) from 5:00–8:00 p.m. Enjoy an evening of fellowship, music, and celebration with guest speaker Alderman Shawn Gregoory, and take part in a silent auction starting at $20. Tickets are $25 for a dad and one daughter, or $35 for a dad with two or more daughters. The WLUJ Family of Stations and Great News Radio can air your Public Service Announcement -PSA- for your church or other non-profit organization at no charge. This includes special events and activities such as programs, seminars, banquets, concerts, revivals, etc.

We will list and broadcast announcements as time, space, and resources permit. PSAs are included on our website under Community Calendar and broadcast during our PSA on-air rotation as space and time permit. Ideally, information about your activity should reach our office at least two weeks prior to the event.

If your function, meeting, or activity includes ticket purchase for admission and may be perceived as a profit-making enterprise, determinations will need be made on how best to handle your submission.
