October 5, Saturday: You are invited for a day filled with fall time fun for the entire family, helping Refuge Ranch (9350 Cascade Rd, Rochester) celebrate seventeen years at their annual Mane Event Open House – feel encouraged to come and join in on the celebration, giving thanks for another amazing season of ministry and gearing up to support seasons to come! This year’s event will offer live music by Illinois Rail, horse rides, and lots of FREE activities: a bounce house, canoeing, glitter stamps, balloon animals, and a photo booth! You will also find some wonderful deals at the silent auction and cake walk! This event will be an incredible opportunity to enjoy the beautiful ranch with your friends and family and be able to experience first-hand the great work they do in our community. October 8, Tuesday: The beloved Southern Gospel group: The Lesters, out of Saint Louis, MO, will be live at Grace Southern Baptist Church (302 Wright Street, Virden, IL), following opening music from Big Mo! October 11-13, Friday-Sunday: Faith Bible Church (4850 Old Jacksonville Road, Springfield) will host their 31st annual Springfield Bible Conference October 11th-13th! October 13, Sunday: You are invited to Third Presbyterian Church’s (1030 North 7th Street, Springfield) Fall Festival, presented by New Life Committee and Deacons! This great opportunity for fall-themed fun for all ages will include: FREE pumpkins, pumpkin painting contest (with prizes), food, games, face painting, and touch the truck! In support of Grace Lutheran Church’s food pantry, there will also be collections of non-perishable food items! October 19 & 20, Saturday & Sunday: Jensen Woods Christian Camp (1498 275 E Street, Timewell, Illinois) is hosting SOUP IN THE WOODS on Saturday the 19th from 3-6p.m. and Sunday the 20th from 11a.m.-2p.m.! There will be a variety of delicious soups, sandwiches, desserts, etc. – alongside with great family fun, including: apple chucking, archery, bounce house ($2), crafts, lawn games, pumpkin decorating, live entertainment, wagon rides, and more! There will be an opportunity for a freewill offering to this wonderful foundation as they work to rebuild their site. October 25, Friday: Fall Night Out hosted by Lake Springfield Christian Assembly (1674 Lick Creek Lane, Chatham) is sure to be a wonderful time of FREE fall-themed fun for the entire community! There will be camp fire, hot dogs, hay rides, caramel apples, and LSCA camp friends, intending to bring together like-minded Christians and build community! October 27, Sunday: Reverend Bruce Goesttsche, of Union Church (La Harpe, IL) and God’s Truth for Daily Living radio program (Monday-Friday at 3:30p.m on 89.7FM), will be retiring this year after forty-three years of ministry at Union Church! There will be a time of celebration in his honor – Sunday the 27th at 2p.m. in the La Harpe School Gymnasium (404 West Main Street, La Harpe, Illinois)! All are invited and encouraged to come out for this time of great fun, especially Bruce's radio listening friends and family!
October 31, Thursday: Our Savior’s Lutheran Church & School (2645 Old Jacksonville Road, Springfield) will be hosting Trunk or Treat in their parking lot, Thursday the 31st from 5-7p.m.! Our Savior’s is providing a FREE, safe, and friendly opportunity for your young ones to dress up, have fun, and hear the Good News about Jesus! The WLUJ Family of Stations and Great News Radio can air your Public Service Announcement -PSA- for your church or other non-profit organization at no charge. This includes special events and activities such as programs, seminars, banquets, concerts, revivals, etc.
We will list and broadcast announcements as time, space, and resources permit. PSAs are included on our website under Community Calendar and broadcast during our PSA on-air rotation as space and time permit. Ideally, information about your activity should reach our office at least two weeks prior to the event.
If your function, meeting, or activity includes ticket purchase for admission and may be perceived as a profit-making enterprise, determinations will need be made on how best to handle your submission.
