November 19, Tuesday: Radiant Church (3200 Shaler Road, Springfield) will be hosting DivorceCare – Surviving the Holidays – a special edition support group for those facing the upcoming holiday season after a separation or divorce. By attending this support group, you will receive aid in how to manage difficult emotions, survive social events, find hope for your future, and still give your children a good holiday experience! We understand that after a separation or divorce that traditions may change, families may be split in various ways, and stress and sorrow can be in the air – come out and be blessed with great help and support! November 23, Saturday: Brown Street Church of God in Christ (1701 East Brown Street, Springfield) will be hosting a FREE Community Thanksgiving Dinner between the hours of noon-2p.m., with doors opening at 11:45a.m.! The first twenty-five families that arrive will be given a $20 Walmart gift card to help with holiday expenses – what a blessing! For more information, call the church secretary at (217) 753-2030. This is a wonderful opportunity to invite your friends, neighbors, co-workers, to gather together in thanksgiving and share in the goodness of God and the community He has blessed us with!

November 24, Sunday: Trinity Lutheran Church and School will be hosting a special edition GriefShare Seminar Surviving the Holidays on Sunday, November 24th from 1-3p.m. in the school's Parish Hall (515 South MacArthur Blvd, Springfield). Surviving the Holidays Seminar will allow attendees to lend support and acceptance of each other’s grieving process in a safe, loving, and caring environment! There will be a video shown that features advice from people who have faced the holidays after the loss of a loved one, followed by a group discussion. Participants will also receive a Holiday Survival Guide which contains over thirty encouraging readings, helpful charts, and tips tuned toward managing the holiday season. The objective of this GriefShare is to help participants find ways to honor their loved ones while putting themselves on the pathway towards healing and well-being! November 25, Saturday: Thanksgiving is just around the corner! First Baptist Church of Lincoln, Illinois (101 Broadway Street, Lincoln) invites and encourages the entire community to come and join together for a Thanksgiving Service. The time of giving thanks unto The Lord will begin at 7p.m. and is a great opportunity to invite friends, neighbors, and co-workers!

December 3, Tuesday: You and your loved ones are invited to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, and enjoy a free concert of lovely Christmas classics performed by The Capital Area Concert Band! The show will begin at 7p.m. at The Trutter Center on The Lincoln Land Community College campus (5250 Shepherd Road, Springfield). This concert is the band’s free gift to the Springfield community, encouraging you to come unwind and revitalize as the mad-dash of the holiday season continues! December 6, Friday: You are invited to join for a wonderful Christmas concert performed by Brian Arner, beginning at 6p.m. at the Sherman Church of the Nazarene (7085 Village Center Road, Sherman)! Preceding the concert, from 5:30-6:15p.m. there will be a time of fellowship and a delicious spaghetti dinner, with a suggested donation of $7 - all proceeds will be donated to the Washington Street Mission (A wonderful ministry in Springfield, providing services to homeless folks and others in need)! December 10, Tuesday: You are encouraged and welcome to come out, sit back, and relax, while enjoying some beautiful and calming Christmas classics performed by The Capital Area Concert Band! This free, one-hour event will be held at 7p.m. at Trinity Lutheran School (515 South MacArthur Blvd, Springfield). This wonderful band puts on these concerts as a gift to the community in hopes to provide great enjoyment and blessing to all attendees - let this joyful time be an early Christmas present to you, you family, and friends! The WLUJ Family of Stations and Great News Radio can air your Public Service Announcement -PSA- for your church or other non-profit organization at no charge. This includes special events and activities such as programs, seminars, banquets, concerts, revivals, etc.

We will list and broadcast announcements as time, space, and resources permit. PSAs are included on our website under Community Calendar and broadcast during our PSA on-air rotation as space and time permit. Ideally, information about your activity should reach our office at least two weeks prior to the event.

If your function, meeting, or activity includes ticket purchase for admission and may be perceived as a profit-making enterprise, determinations will need be made on how best to handle your submission.

We want to serve and assist you in promoting your God-honoring activities.
