Saturday-Sunday, August 9-10: Come enjoy a day of celebration at the Beardstown First UMC’s Fellowship Festival on Saturday, from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., held at the Beardstown Roundhouse (905 Bay Street, Beardstown, IL). This Christ-centered event will be full of joy for the whole family, with live music, great food, and activities for all ages. A free BBQ dinner will be served starting at 4:30 p.m. (until it's gone!), followed by an evening concert with Caleb & John at 6:00 p.m., plus lively performances from local favorites such as the Panther Creek Singers and the Children’s Worship Camp Choir. Kids can enjoy games, snacks, surprises, and a bounce house — all in a day focused on celebrating Jesus and the community He's blessed us with! Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join in on the fun! Then on Sunday morning, all are invited to worship with Beardstown First UMC at 9:00 a.m., followed by a celebratory continental breakfast at 10:00 a.m. — a joyful way to wrap up a wonderful weekend together.
Saturday-Sunday, August 16-17: Union Baptist Church in Springfield, IL invites all women to a special Women's Day Weekend! Saturday begins at 9:30 a.mm with a silent auction and light breakfast, followed by a luncheon at 11:45 a.m. celebrating ministry through music and dance (2 Samuel 6:14–23). Sunday's service at 11:00 a.m. features guest speaker Dr. Lakesha Hill, sharing on the theme Equipping Women for Godly Service (Ephesians 4:12–13). Guests are encouraged to wear shades of green! Friday, August 22: An Evening with Danny Funderburk and Anticipation will take place at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd of August. This special event, hosted by Ashland First Baptist Church (221 West Washington Street, Ashland), features Gospel Music Hall of Fame member Danny Funderburk, known for his time with The Cathedrals and the Gaither Homecoming series, along with the family Gospel group Anticipation from Hannibal, Missouri! Saturday, August 23: The Sisters in Christ Ladies Event, "Still We Rise," is happening at Salem Grace Nazarene, 1900 N. Broadway, Salem IL. Sisters in Christ is a faith-based women’s ministry that brings women together for encouragement, connection, and growing deeper in their walk with God—and this year marks a joyful 10-year celebration! Guest speaker Abigail Schnautz will share a powerful message during a day filled with worship, fellowship, and inspiration. The WLUJ Family of Stations and Great News Radio can air your Public Service Announcement -PSA- for your church or other non-profit organization at no charge. This includes special events and activities such as programs, seminars, banquets, concerts, revivals, etc.
We will list and broadcast announcements as time, space, and resources permit. PSAs are included on our website under Community Calendar and broadcast during our PSA on-air rotation as space and time permit. Ideally, information about your activity should reach our office at least two weeks prior to the event.
If your function, meeting, or activity includes ticket purchase for admission and may be perceived as a profit-making enterprise, determinations will need be made on how best to handle your submission.
