April 13, Saturday: Virginia Christian Women’s Fellowship is hosting a Women’s Retreat “Reflections of Three Biblical Women” Saturday, April 13, at 10:00 am-2:00 pm.  Registration will begin at 9:30 with coffee, muffins & conversation.  The event will be held at Virginia United Methodist Church, located at 401 E Broadway, Virginia.  Barbara Wooldridge will present the message, “Reflections of Three Biblical Women” and will be reinforced by small group discussions and group hymns and choruses.  Childcare and lunch are provided.   Register by calling (217) 452-3534 or visit the Virginia Christian Women’s Fellowship Facebook page.  For more information call (217) 452-3534

April 14, Sunday:  Bethlehem Lutheran Church, located at 120 W Monroe, Petersburg, is hosting a special event on Sunday, April 14th at 3:00 pm.  “Music of the Decades”, the 50’s and 60’s music is presented by the Menard County Singers.  This gospel group has been in existence for 50 years sharing the good news of salvation through music, singing and fellowship.  A cookie reception follows the concert. April 16, Tuesday:  Capital Area Concert Band Celebrates its 50th Anniversary Tuesday, April 16th.  The event will be held at the First United Methodist Church located at 2941 S Koke Mill Rd, Springfield.  The public is invited to a free, one-hour concert “sharing the joy of live music” with the metro-Springfield community.  For more information, call (217) 971-5008 or email caconcertband@gmail.com.  The CACB website is https://sites.google.com/site/capitalareaconcertband/home.

April 19, Friday:  Maple Avenue Christian Church is hosting the IF: Macomb event, which is part of the IF: Gathering ministry founded by Bible teacher and best-selling author Jennie Allen.  It’s open to all women (ages 14+) in Macomb and the surrounding area who are interested in connecting with other local women and working together for a common purpose, to make disciples in our homes, churches, schools, workplaces, organizations, and communities.  It’s a weekend of worship, fellowship, Biblical teaching and encouragement.  The event will take place at the Maple Ave. Christian Church, located at 1300 Maple Ave Macomb and will start at 6:00-9:00pm Friday, April 19th and 9:00am-4:00pm on Saturday, April 20th.  The cost is 15.76 and college students attend for free.  To register, go to www.macc.ws/if-macomb or for more information call (309) 837-9318.

April 20, Saturday:   Kumler Methodist Church, located at 600 N 5th St, Springfield is hosting a gospel concert on Saturday, April 20th.  Snacks and Fellowship time will be from 5:00-6:00 pm, Open Mic Sing from 6:00-7:00 and The SonShine Ministries Quartet will present Hymns and Southern Gospel Music from 7:00-8:00 pm.  The Public is invited and a love offering will be taken.  For more information call (217) 416-3029.

April 26, Friday:  FORGE Men’s Conference at Hope Church (3000 Lenhart Road, Springfield) is going to be a dynamic and empowering time of fellowship designed to create and strengthen the brotherhood and fuel the fire that God has placed in each of us! Hope Church understands the unique challenges and responsibilities that men face in today’s world. ‘Forge’ is crafted to address those challenges head-on, providing a space for men to come together, share their journeys and draw inspiration from one another. Through an engaging speaker, interactive breakouts, and meaningful discussions, participants will explore the intersection of faith and daily life, discovering how to navigate complexities with courage, integrity and purpose! This men’s conference will be held from 6-9:30PM.

April 27, Saturday:   Blended & Blessed, hosted by Calvary Church, is a one-day livestream by Family Life, specific to stepfamily couples, dating couples with kids, and those with hearts for blended families. This year’s Blended & Blessed will examine the Bible’s prescription for peace within your blended homes, and will take place 9AM-4PM. This is a free conference, requiring registration, which can be completed on calvaryspringfield.org. There will be a scheduled lunch break to grab lunch off-site, or coffee and snacks can be purchased at Cafe 501, located inside of Calvary, open from 8:30-11AM!

April 27, Saturday:   The Wanda Mountain Boys will be in concert on Saturday, April 27th at 6:30 pm at the Springfield First Seventh-Day Adventist Church, located at 3300 West Jefferson St,  Springfield.  The concert is free and a love offering will be taken.  For more information, call Judy at (217) 416-3029.

April 27, Saturday:   Fresh Visions Community Church, located at 1551 J. David Jones Parkway, Springfield in partnership with the Illinois Small Business Development Center for Central Illinois is hosting an event, “Starting Your Business in Illinois”, This is a no cost workshop, on Saturday, April 27 at 1:00-3:00 pm.  The workshop is open to the public and available for those 16 years and older.  Workshop participants receive valuable information about starting and maintaining a successful local small business that will be a blessing to their community.  For more information, call 217-522-2772.

April 30, Tuesday:  The Capital Area Concert Band (The CACB formed in 1974 by Tom Ford, allowing for volunteers ages 20-80 to share their musical gift with the community) is celebrating its 50th anniversary and is very excited to share with metro-Springfield their free, one-hour concert, “Sharing the Joy of Live Music”! The event is open and welcoming the public to join on April 30, at the Trutter Center on the Lincoln Land Community College Campus, in Springfield at 7:00PM. The CACB will perform a playlist of well-known standards and newer compositions for a lively convert that will have the audience toe-tapping along with the musicians!  The location of the event will be at 5250 Shepherd Rd, Springfield and you can call  (217) 791-5008.

May 2, Thursday:  National Day of Prayer, Thursday, May 2nd at 12:00PM.  The event will be held at the Logan County Courthouse located at 601 Broadway, Lincoln, meeting in the rotunda from noon to one.  Everyone is invited to gather together and pray for our Country.  For more information contact (217) 737-3637.

May 2, Thursday:  The Annual National Day of Prayer Capitol City Event will be at the Crowne Plaza, 3000 South Dirksen Parkway in Springfield, on May 2nd, at 12:00PM. Come and join us as we pray for our families, churches, communities, schools, culture, and our nation! Worship music will be led by BYO Church Praise and Worship Band and several pastors from all across Central Illinois will lead us in prayer. June 10-14, Monday-Friday:  Springfield Bible Church, located at 2060 Westchester Blvd, Springfield, is hosting VBS June 10-14 from 6:00PM-8:30PM each night. Children ages Pre-K through 6th grade are welcome to come join us for a week of fun activities, all while learning about the love of God! During VBS the children will also be taught about animals from all around the planet, their amazing skills, habits, and features, while also learning about Jesus’ character and how to follow him in their own habitats. The WLUJ Family of Stations and Great News Radio can air your Public Service Announcement -PSA- for your church or other non-profit organization at no charge. This includes special events and activities such as programs, seminars, banquets, concerts, revivals, etc.

We will list and broadcast announcements as time, space, and resources permit. PSAs are included on our website under Community Calendar and broadcast during our PSA on-air rotation as space and time permit. Ideally, information about your activity should reach our office at least two weeks prior to the event.

If your function, meeting, or activity includes ticket purchase for admission and may be perceived as a profit-making enterprise, determinations will need be made on how best to handle your submission.

We want to serve and assist you in promoting your God-honoring activities.
